We live in a country where women using harsh language is considered “cultural shock” but women being raped (irrespective of their age) is somehow considered normal?
Where is the outrage for that?
A woman’s language is scrutinised but the violence inflicted on her isn’t?
When something bad happens, what do they tell women?
Don’t go out alone.
Don’t go to parks.
Dress modestly.
I understand that dressing modestly is important but again how a person desires to dress is ultimately their choice.
God has commanded women to dress modestly but men are also commanded to lower their gaze and guard their modesty. That responsibility does not suddenly disappear because a woman is dressed differently, sitting in a park, walking alone, or simply existing in a public space
So perhaps it’s time we stop teaching our daughters that the world is a dangerous place to live in and that they must constantly make themselves smaller to survive in it.
And instead teach our sons something too.
Teach that women are not objects. That “no” means “no”.
Teach them that respecting a woman is not conditional to how she dresses.
Let’s make our country a place where all women can proudly say that she loves her country♥️.
Thank yall for reading
Until next time
