YOUR HOT CUP OF TEA

~Sophia

Hello y’all! I like writing, you can say that it is my only outlet in this world. I write poems, random thoughts etc. In a world where no one has time to listen to your nonsense, writing became my only safe place. I am not perfect at it sure but hey there should be appreciation for the effort no? Anyways, thanks for visiting my link (you might here through my whatsapp status or randomly lol)

So yeah, this was my intro.

A thousand splendid suns

Recently I read this book, it’s called “A Thousand Splendid suns”

It was a kind of book that broke my heart especially being a Muslim where you see how in the name of Islam women were treated in Afghanistan ( a so called Islamic country).

Where you see women being denied their basic rights! The right to education and honestly even the right to breathe freely.

Does God really want that? Women being oppressed, beaten up by their husbands, controlled .

But there’s one beautiful Hadith:

In Sahih al-Bukhari 5999, Umar ibn al-Khattab (RA) narrates that a woman was desperately searching for her child among a group of captives. When she finally found him, she embraced him and nursed him.

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ asked his companions whether they thought the woman would ever throw her child into a fire if she could prevent it.

They replied that she would never do such a thing.

The Prophet ﷺ then said:

“Allah is more merciful to His slaves than this lady to her son.”

Source: Sahih al-Bukhari 5999

Just think about it for a moment:

If God’s mercy is greater than a mothers’s love for her child , then how can we justify people treating women the way they are treated in different parts of the world.

Reading this book made me think about all the women who are suffering even today. Women who just want to study, follow their dreams and simply live their lives without being afraid.

I don’t know about everything, but I find it difficult to believe that a God described as so merciful would want His creation to treat one another with such cruelty.

And perhaps that’s what hurt me the most about this book. It wasn’t just the story of Mariam and Laila. It was knowing that there are real women out there who are living through their stories even today.

Maybe it’s time we stopped asking women to accept their suffering in the name of God and started questioning those who make them suffer in His name.

Thanks y’all for reading!

Until next time 💗
